- An 8-4 win over an unfortunately short Wrexham HC 1s side allowed for some much needed full pitch practice, after a summer of 7-a-side hockey.
- Another 8-4 victory over a strong Wakefield HC 2s side followed. New signings Tobi Sadri and Andrew Wilson contributing to some champagne hockey with free-flowing passing and assist king Tom Hughes in unusually fine fettle.
- Alderley Edge HC 2s provided the opposition most recently, with the Green Machine coming out 9-3 victors. Following his free transfer from Preston, Craig Allison proved “pop”-ular with his new teammates, linking well in midfield and attack, as well as reacting to make a goal line clearance (at the wrong end).
The final tests before the new league season will see the Men’s 1s travel to Crewe Vagrants HC 1s on Saturday 15th.
On Sunday 16th, at Fortress Wellacre, they will be looking to impose their superiority over an Urmston Old Boys XI, a team of former UHC legends who all wish they were still able to play for such a glorious side. Old Boys Exhibition match and squad preview to follow.
